I started going to another eyebrow gal because my favorite had to move out of state. When this new esthetician saw me again only two weeks after she first waxed my eyebrows, she said, “I feel like I just waxed your eyebrows.” I complained to her that I will be getting my eyebrows waxed every two weeks because they grow so quickly. To that she replied, “Hey, be grateful that you can grow hair because it’s easy to remove but hard to grow.” I realized just then that having fast growing brows is something random to be grateful for.
I’m currently on a “Mother/Daughter NY City” trip and of course going to church on Sunday was part of the itinerary. I am so glad that my daughter didn’t fight me on this event. I think years of my efforts are beginning to pay off.
Last week I had a meeting on Thursday at 1230p. I was meeting a videographer and my PR consultant to film a much needed segment for an already existing promo piece for the Thoughtful Pinch app. I chose the date of this meeting and they chose 1230p as the time and a particular Target as the location. I found this one event remarkable enough to write about it for the blog.
There is a song by Debby Boone called, “You Light Up My Life”. I have memories of my dad singing this song in the car when it would come on the radio. I found the lyrics of the song and they seem so feminine which makes me appreciate my memories of my dad even more because he would belt out the words so confidently.
This is going to sound like I’m a kid in a candy shop but…Hooray! There’s a national day for sour candy! How cool is that? As a kid growing up I was all business - I wouldn’t waste my time on just any candy - it had to be chocolate or nothing at all. Well, I never walked away from any candy, but my preference would be chocolate bars.
On my final dip in the ocean before heading back to Denver, somehow my family had a discussion about church. I was already thinking that I would write about church this week and so I took it as a sign. What were the chances that we would have a conversation about church while we were spending our last moments together as family while on vacation?
They say imitation is the highest form of flattery. I am notorious for seeing ideas and copying them. And when people copy my ideas I am super flattered. My “movement” is to have thoughtfulness imitated throughout the world. I know that is a lofty goal but joy is contagious and we definitely experience joy when we see or learn of someone being thoughtful. I can only hope that thoughtfulness is a by-product of people imitating other people.
There is definitely something stirring inside me. Again, the catalyst is because of a book. This is the second post in a row that pertains to a book. Which makes me think that written thoughts do matter and words have the ability to influence people beyond who we write them down for. When I listened to this book, I was alone and I found myself nodding my head, slapping the steering wheel, verbally agreeing and snorting with laughter. The title of the book is Unbreakable and it’s written by our friend Jay Glazer. We call him Glaze.
The one year anniversary of living in our Denver home is coming up on July 31st. It has taken a full year but the house is finally getting decorated and it’s exciting to know that things will come together very soon. What sucks is now that the new furnishings are coming in, I’m faced with having to let go of stuff that we’ve had for awhile. You’d think I would be itching to get rid of things.
I finally practiced yoga after a four or five month hiatus. The yoga hiatus was not because I needed a break from it. Gosh, I love yoga. No matter how intentional I want to be, life just rolls right over my practice. You’d think I would make it a top priority since everything about yoga makes me feel like Barb Pellicer Paton. When I come back to yoga after missing it, I find myself again. That’s the cool thing about yoga. When life gets in the way of practicing, which it will always fight to do, there is peace knowing that I will find myself again.
There are a few things that I like about the national holiday Do Something Good for Your Neighbor Day. First, I like that the way to celebrate this national day is both vague and specific all at once. Second, if you’re fortunate to have good neighbors, this day is easy-peasy to celebrate. And last, the word neighbor can be defined as: “1. A person who lives near another. 2. A person or thing that is near another. 3. One’s fellow human being.”, according to Nationaldaycalendar.com. In other words, if you don’t want to celebrate with a person who lives on your block, you can celebrate with a cubicle neighbor at the office or the workout neighbor at the gym etc. The possibilities are endless!
In May 2015, I wrote a post called A Mother’s Mix Day. The title was a play on words which included A Mother’s Mix, which is the name of the CD playlists that I have been curating since 2010 and since I give out these playlists every Mother’s Day, I combined the two for a Mother’s Day post. I know, it’s very Wheel of Fortune-like, right? Well today’s post uses A Mother’s Mix Day as a base and goes a little further.
