When we were in our twenties, my hub had a term that he would use when he was finished drinking at the bar and wanted to go home. He would say that he was going to the bathroom but slip away without saying goodbye to anyone. He called that move the “Casper.” He made like a friendly ghost and disappeared. In other words, he Caspered.
Over the weekend, I took the kids to Minneapolis primarily to watch the Broncos play the Vikings in a pre-season game at U.S. Bank Stadium. While we were there, it made sense to see our friends. From the moment we arrived, my family was immediately pampered and cared for in so many ways. I counted the moments we were were blessed by being hosted:
For so many years, I have kept the tradition of listening to Christmas music non-stop starting the day after Thanksgiving until Christmas night. In recent years, I have added another “Day After Thanksgiving” tradition. I pull out all of our Nutcracker items to mark the beginning of the celebration (more like fear) of my daughter’s upcoming dance schedule. Remember when iPhones were introduced in 2007? Then, remember in 2008, when Apple came out with OS 2.0, there were approximately 500 apps on that version? What did we do before apps came along? Hunt and gather? Was sliced bread invented before 2008? Did we even have color TV before then? I mean, our lives have changed so much since apps were introduced that the phrase “game changer” is the ultimate understatement.
You're going to think I'm crazy but I almost declined an invitation to the Super Bowl. I'm not lying when I tell you that the very first thing that went thru my mind, as soon as one of my besties asked me to go with her to Super Bowl 52, was how would I ever find a thoughtful pinch to say thank you?
After the dismal Vikings vs. Eagles NFC Championship Game I was grateful to receive texts, emails and calls from friends and family.
