Today is Valentine’s Day. Let the sweetness flow! Cookies, candy, chocolate, flowers, coffee drinks - all kinds of treats will be exchanged. This is my kind of holiday. Thoughtful pinches are little yet impactful gifts showing thoughtfulness and on Valentine’s Day, there’s a whole range of ways to show it. From free text messages to super fancy engagement rings; anything goes in the name of love!
For so many years, I have kept the tradition of listening to Christmas music non-stop starting the day after Thanksgiving until Christmas night. In recent years, I have added another “Day After Thanksgiving” tradition. I pull out all of our Nutcracker items to mark the beginning of the celebration (more like fear) of my daughter’s upcoming dance schedule. Prior to COVID, the weeks leading up to Christmas were ONLY about Loyce Houlton’s Nutcracker Fantasy at the State Theater. The mugs, sweatshirts, decorations and the coveted fuzzy sock/slippers which have Nutcrackers printed all over them come out of hibernation to help me get in the mood. I’m giving credit to the socks for keeping me grounded during the whirlwind of a season.
Fried Chicken. Yum. Why do I have a southern drawl every time I say the words, “FRIED CHICKEN”? I mean, you would think I lived in the south for 25 years but bless your heart, I’ve never lived in a southern state in my whole life. Unless you consider Fort Lauderdale, Florida The South.
As I am preparing to host a GSD party on April 16, 2019, I am becoming fully aware that I am twice cursed when it comes to giving thoughtful pinches to teachers.
I was running on a treadmill in my basement when I randomly remembered that I may have red and white popcorn containers made with lightweight cardboard. As soon as I was done running, I opened up the cabinet and sure enough there were twenty-one popcorn containers. Yippee! The colors fit my theme for Valentine’s Day.
I'm always trying to find unique thoughtful pinches for Valentine's Day because I think this holiday is the ultimate thoughtful pinch day.
