Holiday Huddle

Holiday Huddle. I can’t take the credit for the birth of this concept - my friend Megan Hendrickson passed it along to me when we lived in MPLS. She questioned why professional sports teams in the Twin Cities haven’t come together for causes that would benefit the community? The question made me pause. Then she added, “We should get the Vikings and the Wild to do something together, “ because she had ties to the Wild.

Team Pinches

My son was extremely mad at me tonight because I took him to hockey practice. Apparently the talks in the car on the way to school this morning or after football didn’t sink in. Fortunately for me, when I picked up my son and his teammate after hockey, all was good again.

Coaches

There are great coaches and there are terrible coaches. Yup, I said it. I brought up the negative because ALL coaches have the power to change lives. We learn great things from great coaches and we learn what NOT to do when we have bad coaches. Our destiny is shaped by the people who mentor us. We could have a wonderful coach who bridges gaps and leads us to the next level or we can have a coach who deters us from ever trying again. Either way, there are so many types of coaches that fall between great and terrible because styles and temperaments are varied as well.

Caps

Last week I played in a nine-hole golf tournament, the theme was Diamonds in the Rough.  Players were encouraged to get into the theme by wearing sparkling accessories and outfits.  Because I previously played with my friend Kristin in another tournament two summers ago, I was really surprised that she invited me to play in her foursome. Even more surprising was that the invitation still stood after I confessed that I didn't touch my clubs for 1.5+ years because I had been working on my tennis. When I arrived at the club as Kristin's guest for the nine-hole tournament, I found out that she was the Chair of the event. What an honor! And because being invited wasn't enough, as a thoughtful pinch,  Kristin gave each of her foursome a cap.
