If someone turns 5 years old on the 5th day of their birthday month, we call that a "Golden Birthday." For example, my nephew Colton will turn 5 on May 5, 2017 and that will be his Golden Birthday. A special day is made even more special because you turn the age of the birth date - it only happens once in a lifetime. If you celebrated 12 years of marriage on July 12th you (like my husband and I) celebrated your Golden Anniversary. Not to be confused with Golden Year Anniversary - that title is reserved for a powerful couple who has endured many ups, downs, joys and pains over 50 years together! Couples who celebrate 50 years of marriage are made of gold and are very cool.
Gold seems to be a symbol of coolness these days. My iPhone and laptop are gold and I think they are pretty cool. Golden Birthdays, Anniversaries and especially Golden Year Anniversaries are ultra cool. It seems like there are so many things that are cool these days but thoughtfulness is a timeless "cool" that will never go out of style. People want to be that person who thinks of everything or everyone. So whenever an occasion deserves attention and I'm in a "pinch" for time but I also want to be thoughtful, I use my trusty tool/app Red Stamp. It's a great way to send an email or text on a stylish designed electronic card. The company also features pinches that are printed on actual cards and then sent via snail mail for a small cost. Using Red Stamp to wish a couple a happy anniversary is so ideal because you can personalize it with messages and/or photos, send it from your device and save a tree. Being "green" is cool.
You may be thinking, "Hello?!, That's what Facebook is for!" But I have to confess, I'm not consistently on Facebook so I feel awkward wishing someone happy birthday or happy anniversary on the days that I do get on. What happens for the days that I'm not on FB? Do I snub the other special people and special days? I just can't handle that. So until I can wish everyone who is on FB the happiest of birthdays and anniversaries, I will choose other ways to show my thoughtful pinches. That's just me.
Regardless of how you extend your wishes of happiness to the special people in your life - try to check if there's anything extra special about the day. Is it a golden celebration? If so, let them know that you know. That's cool.
