Grande

Today is Valentine’s Day. Let the sweetness flow! Cookies, candy, chocolate, flowers, coffee drinks - all kinds of treats will be exchanged. This is my kind of holiday. Thoughtful pinches are little yet impactful gifts showing thoughtfulness and on Valentine’s Day, there’s a whole range of ways to show it. From free text messages to super fancy engagement rings; anything goes in the name of love!

This year for Valentine’s Day, we wanted to support our son’s friend Bodie and his small cookie business. Bodie and his younger brother have been selling cookies since August 2022. The name of their company is Dos Bros Cookie Company and since its launch, they have sold over 1,000 delicious chocolate chip cookies.  I ordered two dozen Grande cookies and plan to spread some holiday cheer as well as help promote the business today.

Even if you are not local to Denver, please support this tiny cookie company by spreading the word about it. I plan to hand out boxes of The Grande cookie to many Broncos coworkers because I want to introduce the great taste others.

I have a little more interest in promoting this local, small business. Bodie is one special kid. He has been a teammate of my son’s football team for two years. He plays football hard and focused; one would never know that this kid has had several heart surgeries before the age of 13 years old. In May ‘22, after Bodie underwent another heart surgery, our QB Russell Wilson heard about it and sent over a bag full of swag for him - signed jersey, wrist bands, etc. Bodie has been mentioned before on one of my Instagram posts because his thank you note was a true example of genuine gratitude. I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised that he would be so grateful, his mom Lisa has also been mentioned before because I wrote about her in my post called Planting Seeds. Lisa has taught Bodie (as well as his two siblings) how to cook for the family. One time she mentioned, very nonchalantly, that Bodie was grilling the pork tenderloin for their dinner while she was out at our football Mom’s Night Out. Lisa said that the tenderloin was one of his easier dishes to make because he was just grilling it. Bodie was back to playing football in July ‘22 and seems to be doing ok since he and his brother ramped up their cookie business with the newest product called The Grande.

Bodie wanted to have a last hurrah before going in for his heart surgery in May 2022. The football teammates were quick to hang out with him at Boomerangs. In this picture, Bodie has on the white Broncos cap and the greatest smile!

I’m not a professional food critic but when I say the cookie is delicious I am not just saying it. The flavor is spot on, the level of moisture in the texture is perfect and the chunkiness of the thick cookie is very cool - like a novelty. I’m aware that the majority of Thoughtful Pinch blog readers are not local so I apologize that you are not able to get your hands on one of these cookies. I do not think that they are set up to ship the cookies (yet), but I’d love it if you could promote this small cookie business to any of your friends who are local. Dos Bros hand deliver the cookies. I received my order of 24 cookies the evening before handing them out as gifts. The cookies will still be very fresh.

For my son’s birthday in December ‘21, he invited his football team and three school friends to the Broncos practice facility for some football fun. In this picture, Bodie is in the middle of the middle row wearing an orange shirt.

cookie business and thought

it was a perfect way to say:

“Our hearts are Grande-size because of you!”

Happy Valentine’s Day!

LOVE,

The Patons

I’m attaching a note to each of the boxes of cookies with the above message. This special promotion for the new Grande cookie, is so appropriate for Valentine’s Day, a.k.a. HEART Day. Figuratively, Bodie has a grande-size heart of gold and literally, we pray that his heart stays healthy. We need Bodie (and his family) around to keep contributing great stuff to our community and to continue to be an inspiration to so many of us. Thank you Dos Bros for making this Valentine’s Day so heart-felt!

Pinches,

Barb
